Pain Free Fibromyalgia Exercise Classes
Pain Free Fibromyalgia Exercise Classes - Further Information
Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue involve the whole of the nervous system, so traditional exercise classes can increase your pain, especially just after a flare up. Normally to treat fibro and associated conditions individually, we do a full assessment of the nervous system over several treatments, and for some of our other classes we do a pre-assessment to see if patients are suitable for the exercises. For this class we are going to do things a bit differently and get you to assess your own symptoms and fill a chart in to show what symptoms you have and where, to avoid our assessment causing an increase in symptoms before we start! We are running classes suitable for those with fibro, ME, chronic fatigue and longstanding complex pain or nervous system dysfunction. This includes anyone with post-Covid dysautonomia (if you have it, you know what this is!). This will involve some gentle stretches for the nervous system and a very gradual strengthening programme for each person. You can't strengthen muscles effectively if the nerves supplying them aren't working....and if you over stretch the muscles, the nerves cause an increase in pain. Catch 22. We will teach you some techniques to calm the autonomic nervous system and help your body to feel safe and able to relax. Exercises will be done in whichever position is most comfortable for you. These include sitting, lying and supported lying. The classes will run on Thursdays from 1.15 until 2 pm, starting on 6th March 2025. The cost will be £75 for a course of six classes (£12.50 per class) payable in advance. You can join at any time and the six classes will run from the first one you attend. The class will last for 45 minutes Please call our Practice Reception on 01287 201006 Monday - Friday between 9 am and 12 noon to book and pay over the phone.
